A woman was jailed by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office following a chase on Monday.

The DCSO report said at 11:00 a.m. a sedan was stolen from a gas station in Curtin. A deputy located the vehicle in Yoncalla and attempted to stop it near the corner of Third Street and Eagle Valley Road. The vehicle failed to yield, running several stop signs at a high rate of speed as it went through Yoncalla, before getting back to Eagle Valley Road.

The report said the vehicle crashed on Eagle Valley, then backed up into a patrol vehicle with force, before taking off again headed northbound on Eagle Valley. The pursuit continued through Drain towards Curtin and eventually ended on Interstate 5 near the Curtin Lorane exit, 14 miles from where it began.

The report said the car was disabled from damage in the crash and the suspect refused to comply with commands. After negotiations failed, the suspect was removed from the vehicle and detained without injuries.

37-year old Sarah Patton of Springfield was charged with attempting to elude police in a vehicle, reckless driving, failure to perform the duties of a driver, third-degree theft, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, interfering with a police officer, and for first-degree criminal mischief. Bail was set at $176,250.
