The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office jailed a man and charged him with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, first degree theft and for being a felon in possession of a firearm, on Monday.

A DCSO report said just before 3:40 p.m. a stolen car was called in as being seen in Tri City, headed towards Riddle. A deputy passed a vehicle matching the description at the intersection of Glenbrook and Castle. It had no plates or windshield. A traffic stop was initiated as the vehicle turned onto Shurtz Hill.

41-year old Justin Hampton was identified as the driver and reportedly gave very incomplete stories regarding having the vehicle. Ultimately the suspect admitted to placing a gun and a gun case in the vehicle. There was also mail in the car and a ticket from Seven Feathers Casino, three days after the vehicle had been stolen.

Hampton was held on $150,000 bail. The victim responded and recovered his vehicle.
