The Oregon Department of Transportation has updates on two paving projects in Douglas County.
Between the Garden Valley Boulevard exit in Roseburg and the Roberts Creek area, a $17 million project is paving eight miles of Interstate 5 and installing or replacing sidewalk ADA ramps. Intermittent weeknight ramp, lane and shoulder closures continue Sunday nights through Friday mornings from 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
A $26 million project has been paving five miles of the freeway, and building climbing lanes on Roberts Mountain. Some nighttime lane closures are taking place from 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Dan Latham of ODOT said temporary striping has been completed and both climbing lanes are now open. Latham said the speed limit is now 65 miles per hour in both directions. He said the contractor will spend the next few weeks picking up traffic control cones and barrels and doing other cleanup work. Latham said additional paving will take place next spring.
