The Roseburg Economic Development Commission is taking applications for fall tourism grants.
A release said after a COVID-19 pandemic-related suspension last fall and winter, the city will begin accepting applications for tourism promotion and tourism-related projects in the Roseburg area that will draw visitors to the city.
The program is funded through the Roseburg transient lodging tax collected within the city limits. The program was temporarily suspended in October 2020 after a significant decrease in those revenues.
Applications will be accepted from registered businesses, registered 501-c-3 organizations and other tax-exempt organizations and governmental entities through December 23rd. Online application forms are on the city website: https://www.cityofroseburg.org/storage/app/media/Commission%20Docs/Economic%20Development%20Commission/2021%20EDC%20Meetings/GRANT%20APPLICATION%202021%20-%20FILLABLE%20FORM.pdf’
The release said grants are typically awarded for such things as advertising, publicizing, or distributing information to market special events and festivals designed to attract tourists at tourism related facilities, or for capital improvement projects that have a substantial purpose of attracting tourism or accommodating tourism activities.
The commission is especially interested in events and projects that entice people to visit from Labor Day through Memorial Day, but all applications are strongly encouraged. The commission will review and consider all the applications and then vote on submissions at its January 22th meeting.
