Congressman Peter DeFazio has announced that the Federal Emergency Management Agency will distribute over $26 million in grants in the state of Oregon, for costs associated with COVID-19 and wildfires.

DeFazio said, “Oregonians need all the help they can get to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic and the devastation brought on by wildfire season”. DeFazio said much of the funding will be provided at a 100 percent federal cost share, giving Oregon necessary resources to rebuild following the disasters.

The four FEMA grants include:

*Just over $14.1 million will be provided to the Oregon Office of Emergency Management for COVID-19 mitigation costs

*A little over $11.3 million for the Oregon Health Authority for COVID-19 mitigation costs

*Over $1.3 million for Lane Electric Cooperative INC for wildfire costs

*Nearly $2.9 million for Eugene Water and Electric Board for wildfire costs
