With the recent significant rain on the south coast, staff with the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife has lifted the low flow angling closure on the Sixes River.

A release said although ODFW is expecting a good run of fall Chinook to the Sixes, low water flows closed a portion of the river to angling on October 1st to protect wild fall Chinook salmon staging between Crystal Creek and Hughes Boat Ramp. This past week’s rain has lifted water levels allowing chinook to freely migrate upstream.

Anglers are reminded that Elk River, just south of the Sixes River is closed to wild fall Chinook this year.
