The Douglas County Farmers Co-Op will have a ribbon cutting ceremony November 2nd as construction is underway at its new Winston location.

General Manager Melvin Burke said, “We’ve grown out of space”. Burke said customers have said they want more offerings, and additional space is needed to properly serve the community.

 

A release said more space means a 16,000 square-foot main store, a 5,460 square foot convenience store and deli, a Shell fuel station which will include non-ethanol fuel, diesel and electric vehicle charging stations, 4,800 square feet of outside storage, and plenty of parking. The new Winston store will offer an expanded selection of pet, garden, equine, and farm and ranch products, including feed, fencing and hay supplies. There will also be a pet washing station.

The release said the new store will have about 40 employees, with 16-18 of those positions being full-time. Winston store manager Brad Chrisman said the store will be a great addition to the Winston community, Chrisman said everyone at the store looks forward to being better able to serve the people with a larger selection of goods and services.

The ceremony will begin at 11:00 a.m. The store will be located at 850 Abraham Avenue. That is across the street from the Harold and Sid Nichols Park and boat launch. For more information, go to www.dcfarmers.com.
