Heavy rain hit the Umpqua Valley starting Thursday afternoon with over an inch of precipitation recorded as of early Friday morning.
Forecasters at the National Weather Service told News Radio 1240 KQEN that 1.14 inches of rain was recorded at the Roseburg Regional Airport in the 24 hours ending at 4:00 a.m. Friday. Forecasters said the heaviest concentration of rain fell in Roseburg between 6:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. Thursday.
Nearly a dozen injury traffic accidents were reported between mid-afternoon and around 9:30 p.m. Thursday night. About half of those took place on Interstate 5.
