OHA reported 8,033 new cases of COVID-19 during the week of Monday October 11th through Sunday October 17th. That represents an 11 percent decrease from the previous week and the 7th consecutive week of declining case counts.

OHA said the incidence of reported COVID-19 was higher in counties with population vaccination rates of less than 50 percent.

OHA reported 377 new hospitalizations, down from 416 last week. That marks a 9 percent reduction and the 6th consecutive week of declines.

There were 183 reported COVID-19 related deaths, up from 179 reported the previous week. This was the highest weekly death toll since the week of January 11th-17th.

OHA said there were 139,727 tests for COVID-19 for the week of October 10th through October 16th. The percentage of positive tests was 7.6 percent, down from 8.1 percent the previous week.

The COVID-19 Weekly Outbreak Report shows 127 active COVID-19 outbreaks in senior living communities and congregate living settings, with 3 or more confirmed cases and 1 or more COVID-19 related deaths.
