Roseburg Police jailed a man for an alleged prior assault on Monday.
An RPD report said 46-year old Michael Ritter had previously allegedly elbowed a woman multiple times and threw her to the ground, causing substantial pain, at a residence on West Nebo Street. Ritter also reportedly broke a phone worth $1,300 as well. The suspect fled the scene after the incident.
Ritter was contacted Monday morning at 8:00 a.m. and denied assaulting the victim and breaking the phone.
He was charged with first-degree criminal mischief and for fourth-degree assault. Bail was set at $56,250.
