COVID-19 has claimed 20 more lives, raising the state’s death toll to 4,002, as of Monday.

An update from the Oregon Health Authority reported 2,895 new confirmed and presumptive cases of COVID-19, bringing the state total to 343,993.

On Monday, OHA Director Patrick Allen said, “Today, Oregon has now recorded more than 4,000 deaths. That’s two short months since we last paused to mark the painful milestone of 3,000 COVID-19 related deaths in Oregon”. Allen said the two milestones tell the story of how swiftly and severely the Delta variant has moved through communities in Oregon.

OHA said the total number of hospitalized patients with COVID-19 across Oregon is 644, which is 5 fewer than on Sunday. There are 170 COVID-19 patients in intensive care unit beds, which is 1 more than on Sunday.

The new cases include:

*374 in Multnomah County

*322 in Washington County

*277 in Marion County

*275 in Deschutes County
