Fish and Wildlife troopers with Oregon State Police are seeking help from the public, after a bull elk was left to waste in Douglas County.

A release said on Tuesday, OSP was notified that a 5-point bull was found on a Bureau of Land Management road between Turkey Creek and Upper Cow Creek Road in the south part of the county. This was just east of Interstate 5 and Canyon Mountain.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the animal was shot once through the back on a gravel roadway. The vehicle of interest has large mud terrain-type tires and left the area after shooting the elk, leaving it to waste.

Anyone with information related to this incident is asked to call the OSP Turn-In-Poachers reward line at 1-800-452-7888 or email: tip@osp.oregon.gov.
