INDUSTRIAL FIRE PRECAUTION MOVES TO LEVEL 1

September 29, 2021 3:30 a.m.

Beginning on Thursday, the Umpqua National Forest will lower to Industrial Fire Precaution Level 1.

A release said the change is in response to the recent rainfall and increased moisture levels across the forest.

Under IFPL 1, industrial operators and those working in the National Forest are required to have fire suppression equipment on site and conduct a fire watch once equipment operations have stopped for the day. This includes those individuals using a chainsaw to cut firewood under a free-use firewood permit. There are no industrial shutdown times associated with IFPL 1.

The Umpqua National Forest Fire Danger Rating is LOW. The Forest has reduced to no Public Use Restrictions as of Wednesday. For more information about the Umpqua National Forest call 957-3200 or go to www.fs.usda.gov/umpqua.
