Roseburg Police jailed a fugitive on Thursday night.
An RPD report said just after 9:30 p.m. a vehicle operated by 38-year old Joseph Cramer was headed south on Northeast Kerr Street. An officer turned around and was going to pull the vehicle over for a violation when the driver allegedly accelerated and turned down Northeast Clover Street. Before the officer could catch up and activate the patrol vehicle’s emergency overhead lights, Cramer and a female passenger both allegedly excited the vehicle and ran into the backyard of a residence.
The report said after additional units arrived on scene, officers gained consent from the homeowner to search the property and found Cramer in a camp trailer in the back yard. The officer determined the suspect had a number of warrants for his arrest. Cramer also reportedly had a plastic bag in his possession with a white crystal-like substance which he said was methamphetamine.
The female passenger was found inside the trailer and the officer discovered she had a warrant for her arrest.
Cramer and the woman were taken to jail. He was held for multiple warrants, and a parole violation. He was cited for unlawful possession of meth. Cramer was detained without bail. The woman was released later that evening.
