Resources are moving from active mop up to patrolling fire perimeters and suppression repair on the Devil’s Knob Complex.

An update from Pacific Northwest Team 2 said crews are continuing to work to remove hazard trees along Forest Road 28 on the Smith Fire. Engines patrolled Forest Road 29 and continued suppression repair efforts on the Mule Creek and Big Hamlin fires. Chippers are still working along containment lines to process small diameter branches and debris.

The update said with more than 100 miles of fire line on the 43 fires in the Devil’s Knob Complex, it will take crews and equipment weeks to repair and naturalize dozer line, clean out ditches, and chip small diameter debris.

The Devil’s Knob Complex is at 69,941 acres. The Big Hamlin Fire remains 100 percent contained while containment on the Smith Fire has increased to 33 percent.
