7 NEW DEATHS, 127 NEW POSITIVE TEST RESULTS, 5 NEW PRESUMPTIVE

7 more people have died related to COVID-19 in Douglas County, 127 more people have received new positive test results, and 5 more are presumptive, as of Wednesday.

The Douglas County COVID-19 Update listed data reported for Tuesday and Wednesday:

The new deaths include a 70-year old man, a 50-year old man, a 64-year old man, an 84-year old man, a 56-year old man, a 54-year old man, and a 66-year old woman. None were vaccinated except for the 56-year old man who was partially vaccinated.

The update said the total number of cases is now at 10,871. Of those, 10,549 are people that have received positive test results and 322 are presumptive. 79 Douglas County COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, 57 locally and 22 outside the area, including that 1 that has been transferred out of state. 17 ventilators and 8 BiPap machines are in use. 12 COVID positive patients are in the intensive care unit and 14 are in the Progressive Care Unit. 73 out of the 79 COVID positive patients are not fully vaccinated.

The update said more local residents are getting the COVID-19 vaccine each week. In the past week, 1,570 total vaccines were administered in Douglas County. 551 of those were the first vaccines for individuals ages 16 years and above. Taking into account the federally reported Veterans Administration vaccine numbers, Douglas County is now at 63.3 percent of residents age 16 years and above, who are vaccinated with at least one dose. For those age 18 years and above who are fully vaccinated, the county is at 55 percent fully vaccinated. For the entire population who are fully vaccinated, as calculated by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the county is 46 percent fully vaccinated.
