ROUGH PATCH COMPLEX GROWS BY 800 ACRES

September 18, 2021 10:50 a.m.

The Rough Patch Complex has grown by 800 acres and is now at 49,803 acres.

An update from the Great Basin Incident Management Team said fire lines across the Rough Patch Fire were tested by unfavorable weather on Friday. Low humidity and gusty southwest winds aligned with terrain causing increased fire activity in several locations. Despite firefighter’s efforts for the past several days, fire spotted across the 2460 Road along the northern portion of the Chaos Fire near the Bohemia Mining District.

Other places within the Rough Patch Complex experienced increased fire growth and activity but held within primary control lines. A change in the weather will occur over the weekend with wetting rain being received across all areas of the fires. This will allow firefighters an opportunity to engage the spot fires and work on additional control measures.

The Chaos Fire is up to 27,903 acres while the Little Bend Fire has had minimal growth and now is at 9,269 acres.

The Jack Fire remains at 24,165 acres with the Buckhead Fire up slightly to 6,976 acres. The Near Minky Fire is unchanged at 4,869 acres.

Containment levels on the Rough Patch Complex continue at 36 percent while the Jack Fire is still 55 percent contained.
