1 NEW DEATH, 121 NEW POSITIVE TEST RESULTS, 2 MORE PRESUMPTIVE

1 more person has died related to COVID-19 in Douglas County, 121 more people have received new positive test results, and 2 more are presumptive, as of Friday.

The Douglas County COVID-19 Update covered data reported Thursday and Friday.

County Public Health Officer Dr. Bob Dannenhoffer said the new death was a 78-year old man who was diagnosed with COVID-19 on September 13th and passed away on Wednesday. He was partially vaccinated.

The update said the total number of cases is now at 10,620. Of those, 10,306 are people that have received positive test results and 314 are presumptive. 81 Douglas County COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, 56 locally and 25 outside the area, including one that has been transferred out of state. 23 ventilators and 8 BiPap machines are in use. 15 COVID positive patients are in the Intensive Care Unit and 12 are in the Progressive Care Unit. 73 out of the 81 patients have not been vaccinated.

The update said there has been “…a stunning loss of life in Douglas County related to the COVID-19 virus in the last six weeks”. There have been 46 COVID-19 related deaths so far this month with a total of 95 COVID-19 related deaths since the beginning of August. Of the 46 deaths, only 5 were fully vaccinated.
