Sutherlin Police charged a transient with second-degree assault on Wednesday.

An SPD report said just before 6:45 p.m. 38-year Britanne Jansen allegedly struck a man in the chest with a beer bottle in the 1300 block of West Central. The report said the assault caused a bottle shaped bruise to be left on the victim’s chest.

Jansen was also held for unlawful use of a weapon. Bail was set at $300,000.
