FIRE ACTIVITY DECREASES ON ROUGH PATCH COMPLEX

September 11, 2021

Fire activity has decreased on the Rough Patch Complex, which remains at 44,434 acres.

The latest update from the Great Basin Incident Management Team 2 said the recent rain has opened a window for firefighters to directly engage the fire.

The Chaos Fire and the Little Bend Creek Fire both remain at 24,462 acres and 8,569 acres respectively. With the wet weather, higher humidity and cloud cover, firefighters were able to directly engage on the fire line, establishing containment using old roadbeds, rock features and hose lays to further secure Fairview Peak. Work will be ongoing over the next few days. Crews continue to focus on the south and east side of the Little Bend Fire strengthening containment lines.

The Jack Fire is 23,990 acres while the Buckhead Fire is at 6,535 acres. The Jack Fire has remained consistent in size with the west, north and northeast perimeter contained. Fire crews are assessing the eastern edge for direct control operations. Firefighters are working to close a gap on the Buckhead Fire to contain the southeast side.
