DEVIL’S KNOB COMPLEX AT 64,940 ACRES, CONTAINMENT INCREASES

September 11, 2021 12:50 p.m.

The Devil’s Knob Complex is at 64,940 acres as containment increases on both fires.

An update from the Rocky Mountain Type 1 Incident Management Team said Friday’s reduced fire behavior continued a much-needed reprieve. The beneficial weather allowed crews to directly engage fire edges where the activity was dampened. Firing operations were minimal as fuels need to be dry enough to carry fire.

Firefighters will continue to use weather conditions to their advantage by working directly on the fire’s edge and strengthening fire lines as conditions allow.

The Smith Fire is 44,410 acres and 19 percent contained while the Big Hamlin Fire is 19,035 acres and 75 percent contained.
