The Oregon Health Authority’s latest report on COVID-19 breakthrough cases, released on Thursday, found that 80.7 percent of the nearly 13,800 COVID-19 cases that were reported between August 29th and September 4th, occurred in people who were unvaccinated.

There were just over 2,650 breakthrough cases, accounting for 19.3 percent of the week’s cases.

OHA said the report showed that the rate of COVID-19 in unvaccinated people is currently approximately five times higher than in vaccinated people. To date, 4.9 percent of all vaccine breakthrough cases have been hospitalized and .9 percent died. OHA said breakthrough cases have been reported in all 36 counties.
