A Drain man was arrested and stolen firearms were recovered Saturday following a theft investigation.
Sergeant Brad O’Dell of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said deputies had begun investigating a report of a theft from a rental vehicle parked at a business in Canyonville. O’Dell said the caller indicated that two firearms and several thousand dollars’ worth of firearm accessories had been taken from the vehicle.
Through their investigation, deputies discovered the theft shortly before 1:30 a.m. and developed a suspect identified as 24-year old Charles Brabender.
O’Dell said deputies served a search warrant at a property associated with the suspect in the 600 block of Irving Drive in Myrtle Creek. During the search warrant execution all of the stolen firearms and associated items were recovered.
Brabender had been arrested earlier in the day on unrelated charges and was already in jail. New charges were unlawful entry into a vehicle, 3 counts of first-degree theft and for 2 counts of being a felon in possession of a firearm. After arraignment, bail was set at $20,000.
