A Roseburg man was jailed following an alleged menacing incident on Wednesday.

A Roseburg Police report said at about 11:15 a.m. an officer contacted the 64-year old suspect after he allegedly stole several grocery items from Safeway in the 1500 block of Northeast Stephens. The report said the man refused to stop for employees and started chugging a stolen beer when an officer approached him.

He was charged with third-degree theft, drinking in public, for a warrant and for a parole violation. The man was detained without bail.
