The Douglas Timber Operators have announced the recipients of its 2021-22 college scholarship.

Applicants must live in Douglas, Coos or Lane counties with the intention to major in a natural resource related field. Four scholarships in the amount of $2500 were awarded to Colton Fuller, Jake Gerrard, Justin Helgren and Steven Moss. One $1,000 scholarship was awarded to Jacob Mitchell.

Winners are:

*Colton Fuller from Days Creek. His field of study is forest management and forest restoration and fire. He attends the College of Forestry at Oregon State University

*Jake Gerrard from Drain. Forest management is his field of study. He plans to get his associates degree at Umpqua Community College then transferring to OSU to obtain his bachelor’s degree.

*Justin Helgren is from Drain. He is pursuing a degree in forest management and currently attends OSU He will graduate with his bachelor’s degree next spring.

*Jacob Mitchell is from North Bend. He will be attending Southwestern Oregon Community College then transfer to the OSU College of Forestry.

*Steven Moss is from Oakland. After earning his degree, he plans on starting a career as a wildlife biologist in southern Oregon.
