The Devil’s Knob Complex has grown by nearly 1,500 acres and is listed at 39,863 acres on the Tiller Ranger District of the Umpqua National Forest.

An update from the Florida Red Incident Management Team said the Smith Fire has continued moving east toward Ash Valley. Personnel are prepared to protect private property and structures in the community as needed. Crews continue to make progress on building containment lines on the southeast side and in the footprint of the 2019 Buckeye Three Fire. With smoke clearing out on Wednesday, helicopters were able to provide air support including water drops to assist ground crews, especially in the northwest section of the fire. Air operations are expected to continue, including along the fire’s south side.

On the Big Hamlin Fire, containment lines on the west side are holding well. Firefighters continue to make progress on the east side with strategic firing operations north of Whiskey Camp. Firefighters will continue firing operations along the east and northeast perimeter as conditions allow.

Containment on the Devil’s Knob Complex remains at 28 percent.
