In the KQEN Business Spotlight;

After more than two years of silence, Reedsport radio station KDUN will go back on the air, beginning on Monday.

In May, nationally syndicated nighttime radio personality Delilah Rene signed an agreement to purchase the station. In June, the Federal Communications Commission granted the assignment of the license and call letters to Delilah’s Big Shoes Productions corporation.

In a release, Delilah said, “I want to give back to the community where I grew up”. She said that Reedsport no longer has a newspaper or any way of disseminating information to its residents. She said she bought the station because it has special memories for her, as that is where she got her start in radio at age 15, back in 1975.

Since June, a team of broadcast consultants, engineers and programming experts have been working to put the transmitter into working order, build new studios and create programming. The studios are in the former Jewett School, which is now the location of the Oregon Coast School of Art.

KDUN, located at 1030 on the AM dial, plans be begin broadcasting at 10:30 a.m. with a live broadcast of the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Locally, Delilah’s national radio program is heard weeknights from 7:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. on 104.5 SAM-FM.
