A 44-year old man was jailed on multiple charges, after allegedly eluding police on Sunday.
A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said at about 7:45 p.m. a deputy tried to stop Tupufia Welch for traffic violations near Major and Tunnel Road in the Glendale area. The report said the suspect eluded the deputy. His motorcycle struck a deer on Red Hill but the rider was able to continue. Welch eluded until the 1,400 block of Tunnel where he lost control and crashed.
The report said the suspect was taken into custody after a foot pursuit and being tased. Welch allegedly had a Glock and spring assisted knife on his person. He was also reportedly in possession of methamphetamine, cocaine and acid. Welch sustained some minor injuries and was treated at CHI Mercy Medical Center before being transported to the jail.
After arraignment, bail was set at $20,000.
