PASSENGER TAKEN TO HOSPITAL AFTER VEHICLE HITS DEER

A passenger was taken to the hospital after a vehicle hit a deer on Saturday.

A report from Oregon State Police said at about 9:45 p.m. a pickup was traveling eastbound on Highway 38 near Scottsburg when a deer entered the roadway in front of the vehicle, causing a collision.

The pickup stopped in the eastbound lane of travel while the deer was not located. An elderly woman in the vehicle was transported to Lower Umpqua Hospital in Reedsport for complaints of pain. The pickup had to be towed from the scene.
