7 more people have died related to COVID-19 in Douglas County, 439 more people have received new positive test results, and 4 more are presumptive, as of Wednesday.

The Douglas County COVID-19 Update covered information reported on Tuesday and Wednesday combined.

County Public Health Officer Dr. Bob Dannenhoffer said the new deaths include:

*A 91-year old woman who was diagnosed with COVID-19 on July 30th and passed away on Saturday. She was fully vaccinated.

*A 59-year old woman who was diagnosed with COVID-19 on Monday and passed away that day. She was not vaccinated.

*A 58-year old woman who was diagnosed with COVID-19 on August 16th and passed away on Sunday. She was not vaccinated.

*A 72-year old woman who was diagnosed with COVID-19 on August 19th and passed away on Tuesday. She was not vaccinated.

*A 74-year old woman who was diagnosed with COVID-19 on August 13th and passed away on Tuesday. She was not vaccinated.

*A 66-year old woman who was diagnosed with COVID-19 on August 16th and passed away on Tuesday. She was not vaccinated.

*A 95-year old woman who was diagnosed with COVID-19 on Monday and passed away on Wednesday. She was fully vaccinated.

The update said the total number of cases is now at 7,879. Of those, 7,604 are people that have received positive test results and 275 are presumptive. 81 Douglas County COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, 67 locally and 14 outside the area including 2 that have been transferred out of state for specialized care not available here. 15 ventilators are in use and 14 COVID positive patients are in the intensive care unit. 70 of the 81 hospitalized are not vaccinated.
