COVID-19 has claimed 30 more lives, raising the state’s death toll to 3,066, as of Tuesday.
An update from the Oregon Health Authority reported 2,804 new confirmed and presumptive cases of COVID-19, bringing the state total to 260,425.
OHA said the number of hospitalized patients with COVID-19 across Oregon is 1,000, which is 63 more than on Monday. That is a pandemic high. Dr. Dean Sidelinger, the state health officer, said its “…yet another grim milestone in Oregon’s ongoing struggle with the virus”. Dr. Sidelinger said that Oregon is far exceeding the hospitalization numbers seen during the pre-vaccination surges last fall and winter. He said it is putting an unprecedented strain on local hospitals. There are 283 COVID-19 patients in intensive care unit beds, which is 30 more than on Monday. The new cases include:

The new deaths ranged in age from 31 to 95. 7 lived in Jackson County. 5 lived in Josephine County. 4 each lived in Marion and Tillamook counties. 2 each lived in Douglas and Coos counties, 1 each lived in Benton, Lane, Multnomah, Yamhill, Washington and Deschutes counties.
OHA reported that 7,928 new doses of COVID-19 vaccinations were added to the state immunization registry. Of that total, 2,230 were initial doses and 1,220 were second doses administered on Monday. The remaining 3,831 were administered on previous days but were entered into the vaccine registry on Monday.
