The Devil’s Knob Complex, burning on the Tiller Ranger District of the Umpqua National Forest, is 25 percent contained.

An update from Great Basin Incident Management Team 2 said fire crews are working to add additional containment lines ahead of the fire. Fire activity began picking up Sunday afternoon in portions of the Smith and the Hamlin fires, with some areas challenged throughout the burn period. Smoke impacts slowed air operations considerably on Sunday, but also helped to reduce temperatures across the fire area.

The update said on the Smith Fire, firefighters are working on the eastern portion of the fire that crossed control lines near Zink Creek and is potentially threatening the Ash Creek area. Alternate lines are being determined and plans developed to control the fire in that location.

The Devil’s Knob Complex is burning in 23,575 acres.
