GOVERNOR ORDERS FLAGS LOWERED IN HONOR OF REPRESENTATIVE LEIF

August 19, 2021 3:00 p.m.

Governor Kate Brown has ordered all flags at Oregon public institutions to be flown at half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Saturday in honor of Representative Gary Leif, who died July 22nd after battling cancer.

Leif had represented Oregon’s House District 2 since 2018. The flag order coincides with the date of Representative Leif’s memorial service in Roseburg.

Brown said, “Our hearts are with Representative Gary Leif’s family, friends, and fellow lawmakers. In the Capitol, I always appreciated work with Gary. It never mattered to him if we came from different backgrounds or different parties. The most important thing to him was representing the people of Douglas County and looking after their needs”.

Leif’s memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Roseburg Christian Fellowship, on Northeast Walnut Street, just south of Northeast Garden Valley Boulevard.
