SAVING GRACE MAKES CHANGES TO SATURDAY FUNDRAISER

August 18, 2021 3:40 a.m.

Saving Grace’s Paws for a Cause event, originally scheduled to be held in-person this Saturday, is undergoing a few changes due to the high numbers of COVID-19 cases which Douglas County is currently experiencing.

Executive Director Megan Gram said “In response to our community’s fragile health care system, and to avoid inadvertently spreading the virus via an in-person event, we have made the very difficult decision to redesign our in-person portion of the Paws for a Cause event”.

Gram said the nonprofit will now host a hybrid function consisting of a drive-through event from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. for anyone who has purchased a ticket. A live virtual presentation will begin at 7:30 p.m. on the organization’s Facebook page. Gram said both the silent and live auctions will be online. The silent auction will end on Saturday at 8:30 p.m. and the live auction will conclude next Tuesday at 5:00 p.m. Links to register for both can be found at www.savinggracepetadoptioncenter.org

A release said that Paws for a Cause represents nearly 10 percent of the overall annual income for Saving Grace and the support of the community is desperately needed in order to provide the very best care for the animals, especially during “…this difficult time”.  The release said donations will not only go towards shelter operations, but also to help Saving Grace remodel their veterinary clinic in order to provide spay and neuter services for public and shelter animals, as well as to provide more comprehensive care for animals in the shelter. Donations can be made on their website or by sending a check to PO Box 803 in Winchester, 97495.

Gram said ticket holders will receive an email with further instructions and can check the website for an FAQ page to help answer questions.
