1 more person has died related to COVID-19, 161 more people have received new positive test results, and there are 6 more presumptive, as of Wednesday.

County Public Health Officer Dr. Bob Dannenhoffer said the 105th death was an 83-year old woman who was diagnosed with COVID-19 on August 7th and passed away on Monday.

The Douglas County COVID-19 Update said the total number of cases is now at 6,637. Of those, 6,362 are people that have received positive test results and 275 are presumptive. 59 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, 53 locally and 6 outside the area, including one that had to be transferred out of state. Of the COVID-positive patients hospitalized locally, 13 ventilators are in use and 12 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit. 51 of the 59 hospitalized are not vaccinated.

The Tuesday recap said 258 more people had received new positive test results. That was the highest daily local case count since the start of the pandemic.

The update said the reporting of the numbers of people in isolation and quarantine continues to be suspended, due to the extraordinary surge in local cases.
