FIREFIGHTERS FOCUSED ON MOP UP OF POOLE CREEK FIRE

Firefighters are focused on a thorough mop up of the Poole Creek Fire, part of the Skyline Ridge Complex.

An update from Oregon Department of Forestry Incident Management Team 1 said crews are methodically cooling hot spots using a grid system to make sure none are missed. That work will continue over the next few days as the ODF fire team begins planning to transition management of the Complex to a smaller organization by the end of the week.

The update said containment is 49 percent overall with all 19 fires lined and most smaller ones in patrol status. Suppression repair is underway. This involves ensuring that water bars and other drainage diversions are installed on access roads, control lines and other cleared areas.

1,190 people are working on the Skyline Ridge Complex which is five miles southeast of Canyonville. It is burning in 5,760 acres.
