COVID-19 has claimed 14 more lives, raising the state’s death toll to 2,949, as of Monday.

An update from the Oregon Health Authority reported 4,396 new confirmed and presumptive cases of COVID-19, bringing the state total to 242,843. The new cases include infections recorded by counties between Friday and Sunday.

The update said the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Western States Scientific Safety Review Workgroup have all recommended an additional dose of COVID-19 vaccine be administered to people with moderately to severely compromised immune systems. The new deaths ranged in age from 27 to 93. 3 each lived in Douglas and Jackson counties. 2 lived in Washington County. 1 each lived in Crook, Coos, Lane, Jefferson, Multnomah, and Wasco counties.

OHA said the number of hospitalized patients with COVID-19 across Oregon is 752, which is 9 more than on Sunday. There are 206 COVID-19 patients in intensive case unit beds, which is 11 more than on Sunday.

OHA reported that 3,013 new doses of COVID-19 vaccinations were added to the state immunization registry. Of that total, 472 were initial doses and 279 were second doses administered on Sunday. The remaining 2,194 were administered on previous days but were entered into the vaccine registry on Sunday.
