2 more people have died related to COVID-19 in Douglas County, 139 more people have received new positive test results, and there are 5 more presumptive, as of Friday.

County Public Health Officer Dr. Bob Dannenhoffer said the 100th death was a 61-year old woman who was diagnosed with COVID-19 on August 5th and passed away last Wednesday. The 101st death was a 79-year old man who was diagnosed with COVID-19 on July 29th and passed away last Thursday.

An update from the Douglas County COVID-19 Response Team said the total number of cases is now at 5,801. Of those, 5,542 are people that have received positive test results and 259 are presumptive. 47 Douglas County COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, 41 locally and 6 outside the area. 1 of those had to be transferred out of state for specialized care that is not available here. The update said of the COVID positive patients hospitalized locally, 11 ventilators are in use and 11 COVID positive patients are in the Intensive Care Unit. Of the hospitalized patients, 43 of the 47 are not vaccinated. The average age of the locally hospitalized patients is 58. 1,133 people are in isolation. 383 people are in quarantine. That means the staff with the Douglas Public Health Network are supporting 1,516 people that are either in isolation or quarantine.

The Thursday recap said 126 more people had received new positive test results, 4 presumptive had been moved to positive with a positive test result, and there were 8 more presumptive.
