Bathroom fire displaces family in North Roseburg home

The Roseburg Fire Department responded to a house fire reportedly caused by an electrical issue in North Roseburg Wednesday afternoon.

RFD responded to a call about a house fire in the 100 block of W Kristen Court around 1:20 p.m. Wednesday and found smoke coming out of a bathroom window on the single-story home upon arrival, according to a report from the fire department.

After a primary and secondary search of the residence, firefighters determined the fire was contained to the bathroom. The blaze was extinguished, but the home reportedly sustained structural, smoke and water damage.

The fire displaced a family, including four adult residents and two children. On adult suffered smoke inhalation, but was treated on scene by Umpqua Valley Ambulance.

RFD says a fire investigator determined the fire to be accidental and most likely electrical in nature. The family was alerted to the fire by smoke alarms.

Twelve firefighters assisted in putting out the fire and was assisted by Umpqua Valley Ambulance and Pacific Power.
