AIR QUALITY ALERT FOR DOUGLAS COUNTY

8/10/2021 2:35 p.m.

DOUGLAS COUNTY – An Air Quality Alert is in effect for a portion of Douglas County.

The alert, issued today, is due to a high concentration of smoke particulates in the air from numerous wildfires in the region.

Central, and eastern, Douglas County are covered in the alert.

Cities that may be affected include Sutherlin, Roseburg, Green, Myrtle Creek, and Canyonville.

Smoke can irritate the eyes and lungs, and worsen some medical conditions.

Officials say the advisory is just another reason to stay inside, if possible, and keep doors and windows closed.

High efficiency particulate air filters are also recommended for indoor air systems, or portable air purifiers.

The Air Quality Alert is in effect until 5:00 p.m. Friday.
