A Myrtle Creek man was jailed early Thursday, accused of possessing a stolen vehicle.

A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said at about 2:45 a.m. a deputy noticed a vehicle in the parking lot of a business in Canyonville and found out that it was stolen.

Two people were contacted at the scene. Both had warrants for their arrest. 40-year old Morris Corey claimed he bought the large SUV from a random person for $125. Corey was taken into custody and charged with possession of a stolen vehicle and for the warrant. The report said while being booked into jail, the suspect was allegedly found to be in possession of 2.5 grams of methamphetamine. That charge was added as well.

Bail was set at $56,250. Morris was released later in the day.

The other person contacted was cited and released on the scene for their warrant.
