3 MORE DEATHS, COVID-19 SURGE CONTINUES IN DOUGLAS COUNTY

3 more people have died related to COVID-19 in Douglas County, as a surge in local cases continues.

County Public Health Officer Dr. Bob Dannenhoffer said the 92nd death was a 43-year old woman who was diagnosed with COVID-19 on Monday, and passed away the same day. Dannenhoffer said the 93rd death was a 71-year old man who was diagnosed with COVID-19 on Sunday and passed away on Monday. The 94th death was a 78-year old woman who was diagnosed with COVID-19 on July 28th and passed away on Monday.

The Douglas County COVID-19 Recovery Update said 44 more people have received new positive test results for COVID-19, and 1 more is presumptive, as of Wednesday. The total number of cases is now at 4,800. Of those, 4,576 are people that have received positive test results and 224 are presumptive. 25 Douglas County COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, 21 locally and 4 outside the area. 596 people are in isolation. 436 people are in quarantine. That means the staff with the Douglas Public Health Network are supporting 1,032 people that are either in isolation or quarantine. That is an increase of 132 people since Monday.

The Tuesday recap said 87 more people received new positive test results for COVID-19 and 4 are more presumptive. That is the highest number of cases in one day, since the pandemic began.
