SUTHERLIN POLICE JAIL MAN FOR ALLEGED ATTEMPTED ASSAULT

Sutherlin Police jailed a man following an alleged attempted assault incident on Saturday.

An SPD report said just before 3:30 p.m. 41-year old Brian Meis went to a neighbor’s home in the 400 block of North Comstock and allegedly charged at the couple with a running throttled pole chainsaw. Nearly cornering the male victim while the suspect was advancing at him, the victim resorted to throwing a large countertop at Meis. The suspect turned his attention to the female victim before eventually fleeing the property and going home.

The report said Meis was eventually taken into custody after charging at officers while striking a match and attempting to hit an officer with the lit match. Meis was tased but reportedly still resisted being handcuffed.

Meis was held for second-degree attempted assault, menacing, unlawful use of a weapon and resisting arrest. Additional charges were later added.
