Roseburg Police jailed a fugitive on Friday.

The RPD report said just after 11:30 a.m. officers contacted Elijah Bates on the railroad tracks, approximately 50 yards south of Northeast Garden Valley Boulevard. The report said the suspect was confrontational, would not identify himself, and resisted being taken into custody. Officers allegedly found a pair of metal knuckles concealed in Bate’s back pocket which the man is not allowed to have, because he is a convicted felon. Officers also determined that there was a warrant for the suspect.

Bates was charged with being a felon in possession of a restricted weapon, carrying a concealed weapon, resisting arrest and for the warrant. He was released later that day.
