A fire early Thursday caused extensive damage to the majority of a home in Green.

Josh Waechter of Douglas County Fire District No. 2 said crews from the district and from the Winston-Dillard Fire District, responded just before 2:00 a.m. The reported structure fire was on Brentridge Drive.  Waechter said the first crew to arrive on the scene reported fire through the roof with exposures threatened.

Firefighters were able to knock down the majority of the fire with an initial attack using two hose lines. Crews spent extensive time overhauling the structure due to trapped fire in a portion of a collapsed roof and crawlspace. The structure was unoccupied at the time of the fire.

Waechter said crews were unable to determine the cause of the fire.
