1 more person has died related to COVID-19 in Douglas County as local cases continue to surge.

County Public Health Officer Dr. Bob Dannenhoffer said the new death was a 63-year old woman who was diagnosed with COVID-19 on July 15th and passed away on Tuesday.

For the second time in a week, Douglas County had the highest number of COVID-19 cases in a day, since the pandemic began. On Thursday, 61 more people received new positive test results for COVID-19, and there were 5 more presumptive. Thursday also had the highest number of hospitalizations in the county for COVID-19 in a day since the start of the pandemic, with 25 people hospitalized, 21 locally and 4 outside the area.

The Douglas County COVID-19 Recovery update said 38 more people received new positive test results for COVID-19, and 4 more were presumptive, as of Friday. The total number of cases is now at 4,531. Of those, 4,317 are people that have received new positive test results and 214 are presumptive. 24 Douglas County COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, 20 locally and 4 outside the area. 371 people are in isolation. 365 people are in quarantine. That means the staff with the Douglas Public Health Network are supporting 736 people that are either in isolation or quarantine. That is an increase of 177 people since Wednesday.
