ROSEBURG POLICE CHARGE MAN WITH THEFT ON WEDNESDAY

Roseburg Police charged a man with first-degree theft on Wednesday, after he allegedly stole a power chair.

An RPD report said at about 11:30 a.m. 51-year old Marc Harper allegedly stole a power chair, which was sitting in the parking of Roseburg Towing in the 1800 block of Northeast Stephens. The report said the suspect hopped on a chair and rode it away, heading south on Stephens.

Roseburg Towing staff tracked Harper down on Channon Street, near the Roseburg Regional Airport, where they surrounded him with their tow trucks. The report said that Harper stated that a number of fictitious people had given him permission to take the chair.

Harper was taken to jail and held on $50,000 bail. The power chair was returned to Roseburg Towing.
