An Excessive Heat Warning starts Thursday morning at 11:00 a.m. for central Douglas County and much of southern Oregon.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service said dangerously hot conditions with afternoon temperatures of up to 106 degrees are possible. Overnight low temperatures will range from the upper 60s to the low 70s.

The Warning area is for most of the west side valleys and includes the Umpqua, Camas, Rogue, Applegate, and Illinois. It applies to Roseburg, Grants Pass, Medford and Ashland.

Forecasters said extreme heat will significantly increase the potential for heat related illnesses, particularly for those working or participating in outdoor activities.

The Excessive Heat Warning continues through 11:00 p.m. on Friday.
