No additional fires have been located on lands protected by the Douglas Forest Protective Association, following early morning lightning on Tuesday.
Kyle Reed of DFPA said six fires already identified have been lined and are in mop-up status. Reed said staff will continue to monitor the path the thunderstorm took for several more days using both aviation and ground patrols, in addition to fire detection cameras. He said that is to ensure that there are not any smoldering fires, also known as “sleeper fires” that may pop up in the coming days as temperatures increase.
Reed went in-depth on the fire situation on Inside Douglas County, on Tuesday, on News Radio 1240 KQEN. That interview is a KQEN Podcast at www.541radio.com
