July 27, 2021 10:15 a.m.

Lightening has led to at least two fires on lands protected by the Douglas Forest Protective Association.

Information from DFPA said a thunderstorm moved over the eastern portion of its district on Monday night. That resulted in lightning strikes between Tiller and Glide. DFPA staff is looking over the area that was affected, using fire detection cameras, aviation resources and ground patrols.

Two fires have been confirmed as of mid-morning Tuesday. One is near the Susan Creek Boat Ramp up the North Umpqua and another is off of Section Creek, near Drew.

More information is expected later from DFPA.
